Juan, also known as Coky, is the co-founder of the 4th Commandment Int’l Ministries. Over the past 15 years, Juan and his wife Anita have equipped hundreds of senior pastors, associate pastors, international recording worship artists and many others on the importance of the 4th Commandment – Rest/Selah.

In the early stages of his professional career, Juan worked as an accountant for two Fortune 500 companies. He has over 20 years of experience in the non-profit world. He started as a supervisor in the accounting department of the largest Hispanic Employment & Training organization in the US – SER. Ultimately, he acted as President for their National Headquarters in Irving, Texas. Juan has owned and operated various small businesses. He also served in the US Army with a tour in Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star for bravery.

As an active member of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, Juan led Life Groups in Spanish and English and served as a deacon. As a mission’s pastor for 13 years, Juan has seen church members use their gifts in short-term mission trips by reaching out to those who are lost in our local community and around the world.

Juan, a pastor’s kid, was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He married his high school sweetheart Anita, a missionary’s kid, who was born and raised in México. Together, they have been married for over 50 years and have two sons: Jeremy, Joey, and 7 grandchildren: Lucia, Ambrose, Bernard, Basil, Jaden, Xavier, and Atlas.

Anita was born in Mérida, Yucatán, México and raised both in México and Puerto Rico, where her parents were missionaries. Being bilingual and bicultural, Anita studied in the educational systems of México, Puerto Rico, Michigan and Texas. She holds a B.A. in Home Economics and Education, a M.A. in Clothing & Textiles and Business, and a Doctoral level Reading Recovery Teacher Leader certification.

During Anita’s 10 years of a business career, she was a Home Economist and later she worked in numerous managerial positions for several Fortune 500 companies.

Throughout Anita’s 18 years of educational experience, she taught at Delta College in Saginaw, Michigan, Texas Women’s University in Texas and various elementary schools in Michigan, Florida and Texas.

She focused teaching English and Spanish to adults and children and was a bilingual Kindergarten teacher. Later, for 7 years, Anita was an elementary Reading Recovery literacy specialist/ trainer. Anita is an author, consultant, editor and translator; having worked for many years with numerous educational publishing companies.

She has also done extensive translations and interpretations for various non-profit organizations. During those years as a volunteer, Anita taught Sunday School classes with various age groups, was a choir and youth director, Sunday School Superintendent, a Mom’s in Touch prayer group founder and a leader of various small cell groups.
